TREATMENTS

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is a method of assessing, treating and preventing a wide range of health problems. Osteopaths use a combination of movement, stretching, targeted deep tissue massage and manipulation of a person’s muscles and joints to improve function, relieve pain and aid recovery.

The body has the natural ability to maintain itself and, by helping this process, an osteopath can promote restoration of normal function. The principle of osteopathy is that the wellbeing of an individual relies on the way that bones, muscles, ligaments, connective tissue and internal structures work with each other.

An osteopath will take the time to understand their patient, and their unique combination of symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. This helps to make an accurate diagnosis of the causes of the pain or lack of function (rather than just addressing the site of the condition), and from that, to formulate a treatment plan that will achieve the best outcome.

ULTRASOUND GUIDED INJECTIONS (USGI)

USGI is a small invasive procedure that involves injecting a steroid into the appropriate area using ultrasound to guide the needle. This injection is a well-recognised treatment, aiming to reduce musculo-skeletal pain relating to tendons, tendon sheaths or joints.

SHOCKWAVE

Shockwave therapy is an effective treatment for soft tissue injuries. Shockwave uses focussed sound waves to break down injured tissue and calcifications in the tissue where the treatment has been applied. The body responds to shockwave by increasing the blood circulation and metabolism in the impact area which accelerates the body’s own healing processes.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.

Our physiotherapists use their hands to help relieve pain and stiffness, and to encourage better movement of the body. They give general advice about things that can affect your daily lives, as well as tailored sports specific advice including performance and conditioning regimes to allow you to return to your sporting arena as soon as possible.
